Dec. 1st, 2009 @ 10:56 am Line-Edit of Text

For the winner of this auction, I will line-edit up to 100,000 words for you, or line-edit shorter works for up to a year, whichever comes first. No restrictions on content: I will line-edit anything from a novel to a query letter to short stories to website copy to a resume, fiction or nonfiction. You can also mix it up: I'd be happy, for instance, to edit several short stories, a chunk of website content, and a professional letter, or whatever you want.

When line-editing, I catch misspellings, typos, missing words, punctuation issues, grammatical issues, and so on; I go over the entire work with a fine-tooth comb. I can also flag awkward or clumsy phrases and sentences, inconsistencies, and stylistic issues. If your work is fiction, I can also give you my impressions of the strengths and weaknesses, but I'm not confident enough of my fiction critiquing skills to offer a full-fledged critique.

(Credentials, if you care: In my day job, I'm a technical writer. In addition to writing documents for customer use myself, I also line-edit the work of my colleagues.)

I can guarantee turnaround of a week for the first ten thousand words, with an additional week for every twenty thousand words thereafter.

Bidding starts at $15, and will last until December 8 at midnight PST.

Cora, do you have a time frame for this? For example, I'm working on a long project but won't have anything ready for a line edit for awhile. When would your offer expire?

Looks like I waited too long -- we're already up to $30! If I'm beaten on some of my other auction bids, I'll reconsider... :)

Sorry, I should have specified! Midnight PST, at which point I'll announce the winner. I've edited the post to reflect that. :)
