Nov. 29th, 2009 @ 10:09 am Phantom Rider trilogy by Janni Lee Simner (out of print children's books)
This is an auction for signed copies of my first three children's books, all now out of print. The Phantom Rider trilogy includes Ghost Horse, The Haunted Trail, and Ghost Vision, books in which I shamelessly indulge both a love of horses and a love of the Arizona desert.

Published in 1996, these Scholastic paperback editions have some spine and edge wear, and the pages are yellowed, but they remain quite readable, and I'll personalize them all.

Bidding starts at $10, and will close at midnight eastern standard time December 8.

Should kickstarter funding not be reached, auction winner may, if they wish, either donate to Tu Publishing directly (if this remains an option) or to Donors Choose to receive books.

Ghost Horse

Callie Fern has just moved to Arizona and she hates it! It's hot, it's dry, and she doesn't have any friends. So what if her room has a great view of the mountains - Callie is miserable. Then one night she feels an eerie tingle go up her spine. She looks out her window and sees a beautiful silver-gray horse - a ghost horse named Star. Callie doesn't know why only she can see Star or why the horse appears in her dreams. Where did Star come from? And what do the dreams mean? The answer leads Callie to a place far beyond her own backyard.
The Haunted Trail

Callie Fern can't wait to take her first trail ride. It's just what she needs to take her mind off Star, who has rejoined her owner in the ghost world. But on the trail, the horses go wild and run off, Leaving Callie, her friend Amy and her sister Melissa, stranded in the mountains. Huge storm clouds are racing in, and with Melissa's ankle strained from her fall, the girls can't get to shelter. Even worse, Callie spies a stranger following them. Suddenly she feels the familiar tingle up her spine that can only mean Star is near! Callie needs Star's help, but can she share the ghost horse's secret? Before the night is over, Callie - and Star - may learn to open their hearts in ways never expected.
Ghost Vision

Callie Fern wishes her summer of secret midnight rides on Star - the shimmering silver-gray ghost horse only she can see - would never end. But when school starts, Callie has to deal with tons of homework and kids who make fun of her just because she's new. She's too tired to ride Star at night. And Star herself seems tired and weak - she's even becoming visible to other people. Can a ghost get sick? Callie is desperate to help the horse she loves, but as Star's form gets more solid, Callie finds her own body starting to shimmer - almost as if she were the ghost! If Callie doesn't figure out how to cure Star's mysterious illness, she might be drawn into the horse's ghostly world forever.

These books were totally written with my 11-year-old horse crazed self at the wheel. :-)
